We bought a figure 8 slip lead from Gundog Solutions around 6 months ago for our excitable Springer Spaniel. We had tried him on various other leads and harnesses however this by far has had the best results with his lead walking. We chose the figure 8 as he has a tendency to pull when around other dogs and so a simple slip wouldn’t have been appropriate. He now walks to heel past other dogs whereas usually he would become excitable and pull towards them. It’s easy to slip on and off and the adjustable rubber stopper ensures that it won’t become too loose and slip off. Great purchase!

What an amazingly simple but effective idea. I bought one fpr my spaniel as a last result. The effect was instant. No pulling or trying to remove it, just long calm walks. Showed a fried who just got one for her Viszla, and again complete success. No pulling on our walks...fantastic!

This lead has changed my life. I have two show type cocker spaniels who believe their job whilst on a lead is a competition to see who can pull my arm off first! They like to lunge at full speed towards cars, people, other dogs, cats, rabbits, squirrels, pheasants etc. Walks with them have always been a stressful battle of wills and never particularly long! I was recommended this lead by a colleague at work and it has made such a difference. It really does work instantly and I could have cried with happiness when I could walk calmly out of the front door instead of being dragged out by what felt like a pack of rabid wolves. Obviously we had to stop a few times whilst they tried to paw it off from their noses but other than that we can manage a nice calm stroll and walk time is actually enjoyable! So simple but highly effective.

Wow! Amazing product. We have been trying for years to walk our 4 year old working cocker to heel, to stop him jumping up at people and also to pull when seeing someone he recognises. This lead has been a game changer for us. Whilst we are still in early days, we saw an improvement immediately. We struggled initially with him trying to brush it off his nose but have persevered and the results get better every day. Our cocker is lively and over enthusiastic but with an excellent temperament. This has just helped him become more well mannered. We are one week in now and delighted. In fact I have ordered two more so that we always have one to hand for him and in order that he doesn't return to his old ways!

Absolutely brilliant! It took 5 minutes for my dog to get used to it, he tried taking it off and rolling on the ground, I just made sure it was not too tight to hurt him in any way, and not too loose for him to take it off, and in no time he was up and walking like a dream beside me. I really tried to avoid this type of leash, but after a serious ankle injury after being pulled backwards by a 6 month old spaniel, I had to rethink what was more important. My main worry was that this type of leash would hurt his face, however, he quickly learned to just have it loose around face and walk at the same pace as I do, this took a couple of minutes. The next day, when I put the leash on, there was no resistance, and he waited patiently on the steps for me to start walking down, usually I would be flying off hanging onto the rail for dear life. I still can't believe the difference it's made to our walks.

I absolutely love this lead. Used a halti on my 2 year old german shepherd but it rubbed and skinned his nose. This works and doesn't rub. Makes walking him a pleasure now. I also have a 5 months old shepherd pup and she has one too. She was pulling and lunging on a walk. Not now. They do occasionally try to remove them, but they have only been wearing them for a few days. I love them!!!!!

No pulling at all, he try’s every now and then to take it off his nose, but I’m sure that will stop. We had our first slow relaxed walk..... before he went wild in the woods ! I have a 19 month Sprocker Spaniel, previously a nightmare on the lead, pulling with all her might, usually only the two hind legs making contact with the floor as she dived forward. Tried many things, harnesses, collar, halti. Halti assisted a little but affected her panting and she hated it. Then we saw other spaniels with a figure eight lead. Ordered, have used for three days so far. First day, walked upright, all four legs contact with ground, some pulling and some trying to get it off. Third day, walking beautifully and with a looser lead than we’ve ever managed and didn’t attempt to remove it herself. Life saver for my shoulders and her neck! The rope is also soft and not bulky.

Ordered one of these early Friday morning. Received mail advising lead had been dispatched same day. Arrived Tuesday, fantastic considering the Covid19 restrictions.
Had previously used a Halti head collar, our Cocker did however try to remove this.
Walked our 3 year old Cocker spaniel with it this morning. Total difference seemed a great deal more relaxed no issues putting back on after off lead time.
Well worth the investment.

Brilliant been using this lead for a few weeks now and my gosh what a difference, my spaniel/lab cross was a terror for pulling unless I had a treat by his nose every 5 seconds, it's now so much easier to keep him under control for his safety and mine, he will still occasionaly try to pull but generally much calmer on a walk. With heeling 90% of the time.

So, I have a ten-month old German Wirehaired Pointer pup and he's pulled like a steam train from the word go...a combination of straining on the end of the lead and the sneaky 'fall-back a step and rush through' in an attempt to pull your arm out of your shoulder. Of course, now he's very strong and sometimes it's like having a wild mustang flailing about on the end of the lead.
I saw this lead and thought it had to be worth a try. It came quickly, the service was good and the product is well-made. I was a little disappointed at first because it looked a bit short and the rope is not particularly thick; relatively thin in fact. I put it on the dog and took him out but we didn't get more than a hundred metres from the house before we had to come back. He was desperately trying to dislodge the nose section of the lead and kept jumping up and getting his paw over the loop running up to my hand. I put the lead away and went back to his slip lead.
So this sounds like a negative review but let me explain.
The truth was that the dog was quite excited and nervous that day and I was a bit stressed and I now believe that was the reason for the failure. Fast forward about six weeks and I determined to try the lead again on a nice sunny and relaxed day. To begin with he pawed away at the nose section and tried to get his leg over the loop but we walked on for another hundred metres and then, suddenly...he became a different dog. He stopped trying to remove it from his nose and he settled down and began to walk beside me at the same speed.
I found that now I could hold the lead very lightly with only very slight tension from time to time. He kept his head up which was a real benefit as he tries to put anything he finds on the ground into his mouth. Best of all, instead of pulling and making himself hoarse to the point where he sounded like Darth Vader in desperate need of a throat lozenge, he actually breathed lightly right through the four-mile walk. It was a revelation and he behaved almost perfectly...he is a pointer after all.
I thought it might just be the novelty so I wanted to introduce the lead in stages, going back to his slip lead in between. He still pulls violently on the slip lead but when he wears the figure-of-eight his behaviour and demeanour are massively improved.
Going back to my concern about the length and thickness of the lead...as he's walking close beside me, the length is actually perfect and because I can hold him with no tension on the lead, the thickness is fine because he's not pulling and I don't have to counter it to control him. And it's lighter so he's more comfortable as well.
I'm going to keep going with this lead and we both seem to finally enjoy his daily walks now instead of them becoming four-mile wresting matches. An excellent product and highly recommended!

Wow. What a difference. Willis, our 9 month old Working Cocker Spaniel has always pulled like a train when walking on a normal collar & lead or harness. A couple of months back we tried a slip lead, which was an improvement but still not ideal. Recently started using slip lead as a figure of 8 lead, then a big improvement. So I ordered a Gundog Solutions figure of 8 lead, Willis now walks perfectly from the first time we used it. Great product. Great service. Totally recommended. Will be buying another soon.

Just bought 2 of these leads for our German Shorthaired Pointer and Griffon Bleu de Gascogne. Both of them pull like absolute trains, especially when they get a scent. We have tried all lead, collar and harness combinations, bungee leads rope leads etc… We had pretty much accepted that this was how walking would be. Had 1 walk with the figure 8 leads and totally different. No word of a lie our 6 year old son was able to hold the lead and control them, amazing!!! They do shake their heads about a bit but it was the first walk and they just need to get used to it!!! Awesome!!!

We had tried everything with our 9 month old springer including the halti headcollar this just irritated him, then we tried a figure of 8 slip lead and it’s worked wonders. This gives you more control, and the material it’s made out of is a lot nicer than other products out there. With this he walks so much better, and it doesn’t even bother him 100% would recommend for any dog that pulls.
